The R&D Scientist position will conduct theoretical or applied scientific research aimed at advancing technical knowledge and expertise necessary to commercialize and expand innovative platforms. The ideal candidate for this position will have a working knowledge of value added cooked meats and refrigerated meat applications.


Product Development, Technical Support and Leadership for all New Products and Product Optimizations:
• Lead the innovation, development and implementation of new ingredients, products and technologies to achieve business goals of commercializing new products and product platforms.
• Identify and implement modification of formulations and process for optimizations of existing products and cost savings.
• Design and execute experiments, analyzing and interpreting data to make sound technical recommendations for specific projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on implementing new equipment and processes.
• Develop formula and process specifications and ensure training and transfer of specification knowledge to QA and Operations, ensuring smooth rollouts of new equipment and processes.
• Support Operations and QA to resolve ingredient, formula, process issues and manage product/process changes. Provide technical support with customer on product information and process capability.
• Research and gain thorough understanding and knowledge of new to the company and/or new to the world product and ingredient emerging technologies, supporting the process design and review on new capability expansion, cost enhancement, and/or process improvement opportunities.
• Provide project leadership for multiple interdisciplinary projects for the development and commercialization of new products, product improvement and cost savings. This includes setting direction for how projects are carried out, developing project plans, identifying and organizing project teams, coordinating other resources to achieve goals, implementing plans, monitoring progress and leading all communication within organization and outside of organization.
• Provide and communicate technical and business risk assessment and perspective for assigned projects.
• Provide technical support to Marketing and Sales at customer meetings.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and be disciplined but willing and able to think outside the box and test boundaries to establish functional excellence.
• This position will require up to 30% travel.


• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field (e.g. Meat Science, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Engineering, etc.)
• 6+ years' of experience* industrial, applied research experience

• Master's degree in Food Science or related field (e.g. Meat Science, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Engineering, etc.)
• 3+ years' of experience* industrial, applied research experience

• Experience and knowledge in frozen appetizers, meats and seafoods and ideally experience in refrigerated meats.
• Previous experience in prepared foods and fully cooked products.
• Demonstrated experience in product development from ideation to commercialization.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
