With demonstrated capability in Satellite communications, and antennas, Viasat is able to provide state-of-the-art communications systems for both commercial and government customers. You will be able to use your RF engineering expertise to build the next generation of advanced antenna products and systems.
As a senior RF engineer, you will be responsible for all of the RF modules across multiple satellite ground station system programs. The RF modules will be a mixture of in-house designs and those procured from vendors.Responsibilities begin with requirements and vetting of RF suppliers during the proposal phase, resulting in a contract award in which you will oversee the design/implementation and test.When necessary, you would work with RF suppliers to solve product yield, quality, and performance problems. A strong background in RF module design will be required in order to serve as the subject matter expert for the team.You will be a key senior member of the division involved with all phases of ground terminals. 15+ years of relevant engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
U.S. Citizenship Required
Significant experience in the design, production and test of RF modules such as LNBs, BUCs, SSPAs, and transceivers for Satellite Communications
Skilled in RF system design including cascade analysis, and spur analysis
RF/microwave and discrete analog circuit design experience
Travel to RF suppliers and other company locations as necessary. Up to 15% travel
Experience with chip and wire as well as SMT assembly methods.
Oral Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate technical principles and issues to nontechnical personnel.
Ability to weigh design tradeoffs vs. cost, schedule, and value added metrics.
Understanding of oscillators and associated tradeoffs.
Prior experience working with TWTs.
Working knowledge of solid state power amplifier design.
Low Noise Amplifier design principles and tradeoffs.
Knowledge of various transmission line media (microstrip, stripline, wave guide, etc.)
Prior experience with phased array antennas
