Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct physical security surveys and inspections, as requested, throughout 94 Client Districts comprising more than 250 facilities to determine if designated areas meet accepted standards for the safeguarding of life, property, assets and classified information. Draft results of surveys and inspections to include detailed evaluations and recommendations for review and revision in accordance with the Physical Security Specialist. This includes generation of cost estimates and/or Statements of Work.
Apply appropriate security standards during building design, upgrade and/or renovation phases to new, upgraded, or renovated Client spaces. The Candidate must be able to integrate all physical, technical and system security requirements, including but not limited to Hirsch Access Control, intrusion detection systems (IDS), closed circuit video (CCV), ballistic protection, and duress systems, into the overall security design, using AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word.
Assist in review of alteration, expansion, and new construction documentation to identify security related items that require revision or further clarification to meet applicable standards. Provide technical assistance on physical security requirements and standards, especially during project development. Participate in project meetings with Facilities Management, Client field offices, other federal agencies and building contractors.
Provide technical assistance on physical security systems troubles and issues to the Client personnel, Regional Security Specialists, and other customers related to Hirsch Access Control, IDS, CCV, ballistic protection and duress systems. Assistance can be in the form of telephone/email support, remote in capability, or on-site visits.
Coordinate the installation of security systems with the Client, federal partners, and the security vendor. Assist the Physical Security Staff with the receiving and deployment of Government Furnished Security Equipment.
Take part in special projects and studies affecting the overall security of Client facilities and property.
Participate in cross-training and assist with the training of new personnel, as directed.
Submit time and expense reports per Company protocols, comply with Company and contract policies and procedures, support other duties as assigned by PM or Company Leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Ability to multi-task, pay close attention to detail, stay alert and focused, and coordinate and manage electronic security equipment.
Ability to use computer software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases and email.
Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little supervision
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
Possess excellent typing abilities and the skill to prepare documents accurately with minimal errors.
Ability to professionally interact with customers, colleagues and command members at all levels; and to foster positive business relationships.
The Physical Security Engineer shall have a minimum of 5 years of project management and physical security experience.The individual must have a documented work history demonstrating success at increasing levels of responsibility and project complexity in the area of physical security. The individuals must have good critical thinking and writing skills and the ability to facilitate complex discussions with stakeholders.
BS/BA in a related field. Five to seven years experience in physical security.
