Summary This position is will be responsible for managing all of the Engineering Lab Activity. This includes maintaining the Engineering Service Request (ESR) list/report as well as supporting Lab Tech's to ensure that all work is completed on-time and per the priority set by the Engineering Manager. This position will also be a support role for the engineers by working with them to come up with solutions for design and testing. primarily responsible for the management and supervision of the metallurgical laboratory including all physical and mechanical testing. This role is multi-faceted as the key position results include but are not limited to, ensures lab compliance; timely performance and accuracy of internal and external testing; training of technicians; and establishing a safe work environment. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical multi-tasker with excellent organizational, prioritizing and interpersonal skills. The metallurgical laboratory, issues certifications that are legally binding upon the company and must provide accurate and timely data with minimal testing cost.
Maintains lab quality assurance program and lab procedures.
Interacts with metallurgist, sales and shipping to resolve problems.
Maintains maintenance of lab equipment and physical facilities.
Performs mechanical testing.
Schedules and manages lab technicians.
Conducts evaluations and proficiency testing.
Initiates reworks on non-conforming material.
Interprets and implements special certification requirements.
Orders lab supplies and services.
Ensures safety within lab environment.

Test Set-up Support - includes helping Lab Tech's determine best way to set-up test equipment and samples for test - cycle testing, burst testing, environmental testing, Temperature testing etc....
Training/helping Lab Tech's to perform their key duties and responsibilities
Maintain ESR list with weekly updates showing key data
Model making - includes small prototype proof models to support engineering with proof of concepts. May include: sanding, painting, simple machining and assembly work.
Maintain testing equipment to keep tests running/both with and without outside help
Create excel graphs and write reports
Keep Engineering Lab Clean
Advanced working knowledge of all lab equipment
Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Strong work ethic and ethical principles
Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent prioritizing skills
3+ years of technical experience
Education Bachelors Trade School
