Job Description

Summary
The Credit Intern analyzes credit data and financial statements to establish credit limits for all customers using third party credit reports, customer references and analysis of financial statements. This position will also be responsible for contacting customers to reconcile statements/billings and to reinforce the terms and conditions of sale. The Credit Intern will also be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting regarding outstanding receivables. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical communicator with excellent organizational, prioritizing and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
• Implements the credit and collection policy for Worthington Industries.
• Assists in credit approval for new and existing customer credit limits.
• Assists the resolution of customer short-pay and quality claims issues.
• Assists the cash application group in identifying and applying unapplied cash.
• Assists customer service issues including invoice and bill of lading copies, proof of delivery, etc.
• Provides recommendations for process improvements including system enhancements, to become more efficient.
• Assists the collection of past due receivable balances.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Desired Experience
• Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
• Ability to work 15-20 hours per week and more during breaks from school
• Financial statement analysis
• Basic understanding of GAAP
• Telephone collection and negotiation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Solid organization, analytical, and communication skills (verbal and written)
