Employment Status: Full-time, "non-exempt" long term temporary position.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekend hours may be required. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am-5:30 pm; closed on Fridays.
Under the supervision of the Director, Orientation and Transition Programs, the Transfer Support Coordinator assist with the recruitment, admission and transition of new transfer students to CSUSB, duties include but are not limited to:
The Transfer Support Coordinator will work closely with the Transfer Student Success Coordinator, to provide programs and services for new transfer students to CSUSB.
Provide support for on-campus high profile recruitment of transfer students. These events include but are not limited to Open House, Application Workshops, collaborative programs with Financial Aid and academic advising as appropriate, Coyotes Connect, Counselors' Day, and others. The incumbent will coordinate with schools and individuals seeking a small group tours to provide services as requested.
Will work on programs to be offered in the community colleges as well as those on campus. These will be done in partnership with the Colleges and to meet the need of transferring students. This can include Next Step and Transition support programs, recruitment programs and should include CSUSB services and departments that support the transition of students to the campus.
Manage communications to incoming transfer students including the creation and writing of communication flow and supporting in the development of new materials to engage transfer students as they move through the CSUSB application process.
Support a team of transfer peer mentors who provide additional peer to peer counseling for transitioning transfer student and collaborate with the Transfer Student Success Coordinator on work responsibilities for these individuals
Education and Experience:
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with a minimum of three (3) years of related office work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments; thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages; ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects
Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures
Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections; ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports
Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
