SUMMARY:

The role of the Director, Benefits, Compensation & HRIS will consult, drive solutions, and provide subject matter expertise in the areas of Benefits, Compensation, and HR technology to meet the business strategy and objectives.  This role is a member of the Human Resources organization and will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Human Resources

  • Provides overall direction and leadership across the Benefits, Compensation & HRIS programs to ensure alignment with industry standards and the company’s strategic business objectives
  • Will manage small team providing day-to-day administration for benefits, compensation, employment actions, and HR system and reporting

Benefits

  • Leads the management of all health, wellness and 401(k) programs and ensures plans are competitive, compliant and in alignment with industry standards
  • Develops, implements, and manages the company’s wellness program and facilitates the ongoing wellness fairs
  • Works closely with senior management team to identify areas of improvement for health and wellness plans and implement process improvement strategies on an ongoing basis
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all benefits-related matters and maintains strong knowledge of current benefits market trends and regulations
  • Participates in benefits salary surveys to ensure alignment to market standards
  • Manages compliance to applicable benefits regulations
  • Manages multiple benefits vendors and providers and assesses opportunity to engage new providers to enhance benefits offerings when appropriate
  • Facilitates annual open enrolment, coordinating with benefits brokers to ensure employee benefit offerings remain competitive and in line with industry standards
  • Works closely with Communications team to provide proactive communications, enrolment materials and presentations associated with the benefits programs to educate and promote benefits to employees

Compensation

  • Oversees the company’s compensation program, inclusive of employee base pay, Recognition & Reward Programs, Management Incentive Compensation Plan and Business Development Incentive Compensation Plan.
  • Participates in salary surveys to ensure salary ranges are in alignment with market standards and facilitates annual benchmarking exercise with HR team to address changes in compensation requirements
  • Serves as subject matter expert for all compensation-related matters and maintains strong knowledge of current compensation market trends, regulations and laws
  • Works closely with senior management and leaders across the organization to address any employee concerns related to base pay or incentive compensation
  • Works in close coordination with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure that employee compensation is in alignment with the latest recruiting trends for the industry
  • Oversees all compensation-related tools and identifies areas of process improvement to enhance compensation program as applicable
  • Leverages broad HR knowledge and experience to ensure compliance to policies, procedures and regulations
  • Manages the annual Merit Planning process
  • Facilitates the ongoing, quarterly and annual recognition & reward program for all employees; inclusive of employee communication, facilitating the nomination process and coordinating nomination results with the Executive Team
  • Working closely with the CEO, CHRO and Executive Team, will manage and oversee Management and Business Development Incentive Compensation Plans

 Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

  • Works with the CHRO to identify and implement HRIS strategies and process improvements within the HRIS to ensure all system capabilities remain competitive and in alignment with the company’s business objectives
  • Maintains oversight of all HR Systems
  • Works closely with the HR administration team to ensure HRIS data is current and accurate on an ongoing basis
  • Leads HR administration team who is responsible for workforce data flow, analytics and reporting
  • Responsible for creating a culture of accountability by ensuring consistent data integrity, testing of system changes and analyzes system data flows to identify and correct potential gaps
  • Oversees all HR reporting tools, working closely with senior management teams to develop accurate workforce reports and forecast workforce trends
  • Monitors ongoing HRIS service delivery standards to ensure standards are met or exceeded
  • Improves overall employee and manager HRIS experience by developing detailed user instruction manuals, interactive trainings and ongoing communication to address key points of feedback
  • Conducts competitive analysis of trends in the HRIS arena to maximize system capabilities

  • Translates strategies into current and future action plans
  • Oversees and provides input into the Compensation, Benefits and HRIS budget
  • Addresses business issues which are beyond immediate needs
  • Handles work situations which deal regularly with future business issues
  • Synthesizes many perspectives or conflicting ideas
  • Partners with key managers and stakeholders and analyzes issues and problems from the customer perspective
  • Manages internal customer relationships for long-term value
  • Plans performance measurements to meet organizational goals

Talent Development

  • Requests and gives both negative and positive feedback
  • Recruits highly skilled, motivated leaders and individual contributors, and recommends potential new hire resources to meet client commitments in alignment with Human Resources
  • Encourages and facilitates the development of a significant knowledge base in the Human Resources team
  • Conducts performance evaluations and corrective action plans, measuring key performance indicators (KPI) while coordinating with Human Resources leadership
  • Responsible for administrative functions for direct reports (if applicable) related to recruiting, training, developing inter-personal skills among team members, conducting performance and annual reviews, setting SMART goals, recommending salary increases and adjustments, ensuring timekeeping compliance, and taking disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Helps resolve conflicts affecting people and project priorities

 

MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Masters’ Degree
    • Preferred Major: Human Resources or a closely related field
    • 15+ years of overall HR experience including 5+ years in Benefits, Compensation and HR Systems, plus a minimum of 3+ years managing, leading teams and implementing project initiatives
  • Strong experience with HR Technology Systems and Tools
  • Strong understanding of Compensation Programs & Tools
  • Demonstrated experience in Benefits Programs, Enrollment Systems, Vendor file feeds and Compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite with advanced skills in building management presentations and utilizing Excel.
  • Outstanding ability to manage relationships and balance customer, project, organization, and team needs to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Excellent consultative skills and ability to communicate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences, including senior organizational leaders
  • Ability to translate complicated project concepts (milestones, risks, desired outcomes, decision options, etc.)
  • Possesses strong strategic orientation, analytical skills, critical thinking ability, and evaluate broad impacts of work
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to lead, influence, and motivate others in the work group
  • Proven ability to work with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment
  • Demonstrated successful application of project management methodology, tools, and best practices
  • Must be able to develop and clearly and concisely present a professional product to multiple levels of management
  • Must be well organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments
  • Experience in effective change management techniques and implementation
  • Possesses broad knowledge covering multiple Human Resources functions
  • Will require some travel, 10-15%
