This position will install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, refrigerated storage boxes, pumps, compressors, and related mechanical equipment and control systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Check/repair/adjust air conditioning and refrigeration equipment as scheduled by the preventive maintenance program. 2. Respond to assigned corrective work requests. 3. Operate heating and cooling plant equipment, including high pressure boilers and large centrifugal chillers. 4. Check all major equipment and log readings as scheduled, or as directed by supervisor. 5. Check mechanical systems on a routine basis for problems or abnormalities; troubleshoot and repair problems. 6. Keep supervisor aware of all emergency situations. 7. Perform other duties as assigned.
NO Security Clearance
High school diploma or GED; three (3) years experience installing repairing, and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning systems, pumps, compressors, and associated control systems; Shelby County 1st Class Refrigeration Operator’s License; EPA Certification for handling medium and high pressure refrigerants; valid driver’s license; ability to use all refrigeration specialty tools; ability to braze and solder metals such as steel and copper; ability to use all hand and power tools associated with the air-conditioning trade; ability to trouble-shoot and diagnose problems in HVAC systems; ability to read wiring diagrams; ability to lift up to 75lbs, climb and work from ladders for an extended period of time, and crawl and work in confined spaces; knowledge of typical air handling units maintenance and operation: knowledge of typical building heating systems maintenance and operation.
