Job Summary / General Purpose: General laborer/operator capable of a wide range of duties at an oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. A variety of skills/specialization may be utilized some of which may require licensure or certification. Work hours/shifts vary and overtime is frequently available but not guaranteed. Work is primarily performed outdoors in a maritime environment 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Major Duties / Responsibilities: Your duties and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to any of the following: Operation of ticket booth Night watchman responsibilities Operation of large construction equipment (loader, bulldozer) Assist with mooring vessels Assist with offloading of cargo (connecting hoses) Loading railroad cars Operation of hoisting cranes Operation of conveyor system Supervise loading of caustic soda Gauging of oil tanks Assist with maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment Participate in oil spill response drills Operation of boiler (with suitable license as required) Electrical repairs (with suitable license as required) Welding (with suitable training/certification as required) Other duties as required
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years experience as a general laborer Knowledge of basic math Mechanical aptitude Licenses/certifications as required for some operations Basic computer knowledge Valid driver’s license Good verbal and written communication skills
Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include: o Standing up to 75% of the day o Lifting up to 75 lbs (i.e. steel parts, spouts) o Carrying up to 50 lbs (i.e. oil, parts, tools) o Pulling up to 75 lb capacity (i.e. mooring lines) o Extended climbing (i.e. tank ladders/stairs/ramps)
Incumbent must possess the ability to work in a safe manner and maintain a constant state of alertness as the nature of work performed within our terminal operations create conditions where a momentary lack of concentration or alertness can lead to catastrophic results.
