The role of the Architecture, Principal is to serve as technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) for architecture. This role involves assisting leadership by providing expert technical knowledge, guidance, and leadership. This role is a member of the Architecture team and reports directly to the Architecture, VP.

CNSI supports a high-volume healthcare data system that is accessed through multiple web portals. This high-volume system operates out of multiple data centers and must reliably be available to its clients 7x24x365.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Architecture

  • Provide technical leadership to the integrated project team throughout all phases of the systems development lifecycle, with preference given to experience with the CMS Technical Reference Architecture and XLC
  • Works independent of supervision
  • Works on highly complex projects that require expert knowledge across all specialized technology domains
  • Provides expert guidance to enforce the completeness of the architecture across the technical teams
  • Possesses recognized expertise in the architecture field, including emerging trends and industry practices
  • Identifies areas for process improvement to improve quality and optimize cost
  • Demonstrates consistent use of design methods such as TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM)
  • Translates ideas into actionable requirements to enhance enterprise architecture
  • Oversees CNSI’s enterprise architecture integrity and vision
  • Makes design decisions for application development teams and product implementation teams
  • Monitors the models and updates as necessary to show changes, additions, and alterations
  • Ensures that architecture strategies are in line with best practices and makes recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Assists in leading the enterprise architecture governance and review process, working closely with the Architecture, VP
  • Works with the Executive team to understand business requirements and make recommendations on strategy
  • Produces expert architecture design by applying expertise, logical analysis, and integrating capabilities
  • Works closely with cross-functional technical teams, providing expert guidance and support
  • Ensures that the Architecture team identifies risks and issues, escalates them to senior management, and assists in developing mitigation strategies
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of architecture to ensure high quality
  • Demonstrates expertise in enterprise architecture to ensure successful client demonstrations.
  • Demonstrates expertise in enterprise architecture via development of white papers, and proof of concepts, leading technology workshops, etc.

General:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies, best practices, and procedures; and applies them to projects to ensure that architecture objectives are achieved
  • Demonstrates in-depth business and technical expert knowledge of the development of all software applications for implementation
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of how applications are deployed and maintained
  • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives, providing support to the budget process as needed

Customer:

  • Interprets requirements documents
  • Discovers and documents the customer’s business scenarios, leveraging expertise to ensure continuous improvement
  • Conducts research and remains current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts
  • Participates in the proposal process, develops technical content Requests for Proposal (RFP), evaluates solutions, and defines governance
  • Supports the technology delivery management process
  • Provides customer support and leads customer technology solution sessions
  • Possesses strong ability to evaluate Architecture team’s presentations and to present them to the customer
  • Possesses unwavering commitment to customer service and operational excellence

Talent Development:

  • Encourages and facilitates the development of a significant knowledge base in team
  • Serves as SME to the Architecture team and cross-functional teams
  • Requests and gives both negative and positive feedback

 

MANDATORY SKILLS:

 

Education & Experience:      

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree with 15+ years of software development experience, Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC)
  • 8+ years on large technical projects

 

Technology Skills:    

 

  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with healthcare knowledge, including Claims Adjudication/Reimbursement, HIPAA transactions, reference code sets (e.g., HCPCS, ICD9, ICD 10, CPT)
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience
  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications, Webex, Skype, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, with a working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies such as waterfall, hybrid agile, and agile/scrum framework
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture framework, such as TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF
  • Expert understanding of business modeling and business process design
  • Expert understanding of data design
  • Expert understanding of application and services design
  • Expert understanding of IT standards
  • Expert understanding of architecture principles design
  • Expert understanding of building block design
  • In-depth knowledge of web-based services
  • Strong understanding of service-level agreements (SLA)
  • Strong understanding of migration planning

 

Expert knowledge and mastery in all of the following areas:

  • Front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Frameworks such as jQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap
  • Mobile technologies, responsive user interface design, and SOA
  • Cloud computing such as AWS, Oracle, Azure
  • Server-side languages such as Java, ASP.NET
  • Relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server
  • Modelling languages such as UML, SysML

 

Professional Experience & Skills:    

 

  • Domain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare verticals
  • Ability to partner with senior management leadership team and cross-functional teams in implementation of major initiatives
  • Ability to research, devise, and implement organizational and process maturity initiatives as they pertain to enterprise architecture and development
  • Strong understanding of role-relevant issues and trends
  • Expert technical understanding with ability to communicate technical impact, technical solutions, root cause, and corrective actions into business concepts or layman’s terms
