Job Summary:   

The IT Helpdesk Technician acts as frontline support in troubleshooting user related network issues. This position will also be responsible for Documentation, Internal projects, Client projects and reports to the Information Technology Director  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.  

• Receive, set up and support client related network equipment, such as firewalls, routers and switches, configuring the appropriate network settings for client   

• Maintain the IT areas and racks/equipment in a manner to present a professional and organized appearance  

• Administers network servers including installation and set-up of networked workstations; accountable for keeping the networks up.   

• Troubleshoot complex network problems for internal or external customers, including subnets, vlans, and multiple domains.  

• Provides technical support to customers and network engineers involving Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Servers, and Peripherals using TCP/IP, CMD prompt, and PowerShell.  

• Maintain hardware and software inventory  

• Maintain and document network and systems diagrams   

• Administer the creation and deletion of user accounts as needed among the varying systems   

• Prioritize multiple tasks and escalate issues as needed   

• Monitor appropriate procedures to safeguard systems from physical harm and viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data  

Possible On-call Saturday or Sunday might be required in the case there are any site emergencies for IT remediation  


Experience/Education Required:  

• A+ (A Plus) Certified   

• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks   

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7 and 8 as well as basic networking/wireless/internet technologies   

• Experience and knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, servers and workstations   

• Ability to conceptualize the inter-relatedness of information technology components (software, hardware, servers, networks, etc.)   

• Previous experience with network design, installation and repair a plus  

• Strong TCP/IP troubleshooting skills and a basic understanding of the OSI Model (especially the first three layers)  

There is a contingent requirement to pass a Level 2 background check in order to work with the San Fernando Police Department. Any felonies or previous criminal records could preclude employment.
