Job Description

Western Peterbilt is hiring for a Central Purchasing Manager. This position is responsible for the managing and maintaining of parts inventory levels for all dealer locations in accordance with defined metrics as established by the Director. The CPM is responsible for managing results in Replenishment, Stock Transfers, Supplier Pricing, Rebate Recovery, Mass Data Entry/ Systems Improvements, Obsolescence Returns, Payables Inventory Invoice Processing and Coding, and Staff Training. This position also requires mentoring and assisting Parts Managers as needed in inventory control policy, cycle counts and physical inventory execution, and core management. This position requires excellent customer service skills; intimate knowledge of the parts business with abilities to problem solve and an understanding of the Operations of a working parts department.

Negotiates with OEMs and parts suppliers for the purchase of after-market and OEM proprietary parts.
Develops new supply sources where existing vendors are inadequate.
Manages part rebate programs with suppliers and OEMs.
Primary liaison to GWP’s business system supplier (DSI) related to the Parts Module functionality.This includes data records for part cost, pricing, discount tables, inventory on-hand, and parts ordering.
Specific areas of oversight include inventory management, business system usage and related training.
Insures inventory management criteria on a part-by-part basis,
Ensures parts cost in the business system are current and accurate.
Manages parts inventory levels at all locations to optimum on-hand stock levels – balancing inventory turns (days on-hand), emergency purchases, premium freight, and Service Department objectives (minimize customer down-time) and achieve high proficiency levels.
Oversees the process for parts, core, and credit transactions, including related GWP internal controls and procedures.Ensures timely processing by Parts Managers, accounts receivable and suppliers.
Oversees aged and obsolete inventory to control costs and ensure proper inventory asset valuation.
Directs the process for maintaining accurate on-hand inventory records, including physical inventory activities.
Develop and maintain “central purchasing” for stock orders at all locations, ensuring purchases are made to maximize the discounts offered by our suppliers.
Investigate and implement procedures to reduce employees’ time in performing their jobs (electronic purchase orders, scanning for receipt of inventory, etc.)
Travel is required when setting up new locations, annual inventories, vendor meetings, etc.
Key performance metrics include:
Company Gross profits goals, parts department gross profit goals, attained CSR - Sales Allowances measured as % of purchases, inventory turn and fill rates, minimizing surplus and obsolete inventory.

Minimum Job Qualifications
5 years Heavy Duty OE Dealer Inventory Management Experience (Multiple locations preferred)
Certified Inventory Control Training by OEM’s or 3rd Party instructors for Distribution Sales
3 years experience in working with direct relationships with Heavy Duty Parts manufacturers

Desired Job Qualifications
Demonstrated use of Excel with 10 key skills.
Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in a physical inventory cycle counting process.
General PC use and keyboard navigation including use of the web.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
