Summary: Provides day-to-day maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe operation of machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems in farm facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow the safety requirements of the Injury Prevention System (IPS).
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings and other parts of machinery
Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as receptacles, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
Layout, assembly, installation and maintenance of plumbing systems, feed systems, fresh water systems, and the repair and replacement of gauges, valves, pressure regulators, pumps and related equipment.
Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment including concrete, wood framing and other components.
Set up and operate tools such as saws, drills and hand tools.
Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Regularly serves as "on call" technician for weekends and holidays
Responds to emergency needs when not "on call"
Comply with all Bio-Security (BMS) and Environmental (EMS) management system's rules and regulations
Comply with all Smithfield Hog Production established policies and procedures.
