Concrete finishers are responsible for the final aesthetic appearance of finished concrete components. Finishers are usually part of a concrete crew and are responsible for aiding or completing various stages of the concrete process such as forming, pouring, rodding, and treating or curing concrete surfaces and must furnish small hand tools to complete those basic functions. Some projects may also include concrete patching, repair, or restoration. Concrete finishers report directly to the concrete foreman or superintendent depending on the size of the job.
Prefer 3 years experience in setting forms (carpenter) and placement of concrete for flatwork (i.e., sidewalks, driveways, curb & gutter, etc. Experience in structural concrete a plus (box culverts, irrigation structures, etc.)
Must be able to pass a 7-year background check and pre-hire drug testing.
Concrete and Masonry
Assist with site preparation prior to pour, ensuring that grades and forms appear to meet project specifications.
Understand and accommodate parameters of the project such as composition of concrete, treatments added and local environment, which dictate the time in which the concrete must be set and finished.
Standby during concrete pour and provide support in necessary functions such as shooting and laying down concrete to appropriate areas.
Ability to hand mix and pour concrete if called for by project specifications or site constraints.
Proficiency in all steps of concrete work from beginning to end:
Run concrete chute
Perform related techniques such as vibrating and screeding to promote efficiency and quality of finishing process and prolonged life of product.
Be familiar with specialty finishes like exposed aggregate or sand blasted, salt finish, staining, stamping, etc.
Demonstrate and promote amongst the crew, the highest level of industry safety standards and consistently meet like standards set by DBA Construction’s Health and Safety Program.
