Saalex is seeking s highly-skilled and motivated employee to perform as System Safety analysis supporting a wide variety of target programs. Candidate will provide complete life-cycle safety support for conventional weapon and target
systems. The position is involved with the safety aspects of the development of complex modern weapon systems, targets
and ordnance devices, and the management of risks involved in the testing and handling of new experimental ordnance devices or explosive materials. Includes the following specific types of efforts: (a) System safety work involving the analysis of target systems to identify and eliminate safety hazards inherent in the design. Involves the systematic application of Navy
safety policies to the design of military hardware, definition of system safety requirements, performance of various specialized types of hazard analysis, preparation of system safety plans, and assistance in the overall implementation of safety
practices for modern complex weapon systems. (b) Work involving the management and control of risk in testing or
industrial processing involving ordnance items or high-energy materials. (c) Membership on committees responsible for
the establishment of safety operating and test policies, enforcement of Navy-wide operating policy with regard to safety, granting of specialized extensions to such policies, or overseeing broad areas of risk management involving highly hazardous ordnance operations.

Candidate should have experience performing the following analyses in accordance with MIL-STD-882E: System Hazard Analyses (SHA), Preliminary Hazard Analyses (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analyses (SSHA) and Operating and
Support Hazard Analyses (O&SHA). Familiarization with the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB), Software System Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and Fuze and Initiation System Technical Review Panel (FISTRP) is also desired. The applicant should have both a hardware and software safety background and be able to perform engineering technical services and make recommendations on systems support plans based on customer requirements. Past experience in performing Risk Hazard Index (RHI) assessments is highly desirable.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in safety requirements allocation. Specific training in The Systems Engineering Process, Systems Integration Validation and Verification, System Design, System Concept of Operations (CONOPS), System Requirements Definition, System Requirements Tracking, and Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) Basic is desired. The applicant should have the familiarization and ability to coordinate and conduct detailed technical reviews among program management and various engineering staff. These reviews consist of but are not limited to program status reviews, peer reviews, System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR). The candidate should have the ability to lead and participate in all phases of the Systems Engineering process to include requirements development, conceptual design, system design, integration, verification, and validation (I,V,&V), system test, and final customer acceptance.
