U. S. Steel Seamless Tubular Operations is seeking a Tubular Environmental Manager. The Tubular Environmental Manager will be responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the Company's Tubular facilities, and will be located at our Fairfield Tubular Operations in Fairfield, AL. The position will report directly to the General Manager of Tubular Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Administer the U. S. Steel Safety Program to ensure a safe work environment •Performance management of direct report Environmental Engineers, providing guidance to help individuals achieve goals •Ensuring that U. S. Steel standards are met or exceeded for the administration of corporate environmental policies •Lead development and implementation of environmental compliance programs and plans to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental agency regulations •Plan, organize, and manage department budget and expenditures to ensure reliable and cost effective environmental operations and services •Lead interactions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress towards achieving environmental goals •Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Environmental Affairs, and the Law Department to ensure that environmental permitting and compliance requirements are met for CAPEX and strategic initiatives and improvements
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: •Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably environmental, chemical, or civil) or related technical degree is required •Familiarity with Federal and State environmental regulations •A minimum of 5 years relevant environmental experience in manufacturing (preferably in steel, metals, or allied industry) •Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex analysis clearly and effectivelySteel is essential to advancing modern society.
