Merck Animal Health, Millsboro, DE is a BioTechnology Center of Excellence that manufactures, fills, packages and distributes vaccines for animals.   A Warehouse Lead Tech will oversee the daily operations that occur on the warehouse floor. A Warehouse Lead Tech must follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies, at a highly regulated facility.


The primary purpose of this position is to lead the warehouse team in supporting the production of veterinary products in a USDA licensed facility. This role will include preparing domestic and international shipments. Other activities include, but are not limited to goods receipt, infectious and hazard waste processes, cycle counting, product freeze and storage.      


This position is for First Shift, which are current hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm. Must be able to work flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the manufacturing process. This includes overtime, holidays and weekends. Days and hours are subject to change based on the needs of the business.


A Lead will oversee and perform activities that are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated, at all times, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment.  Understands and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Leads will need to learn all job roles associated with warehousing including transportation.
  • Leads may be responsible for accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous wastes, as appropriate to their area.
  • Pull products from storage areas to complete a customer order.
  • Prepare materials for shipping including handling of dry ice and/or liquid nitrogen.
  • Receive and issue materials from inventory.
  • Perform cycle counting.
  • Organization & storage of direct materials.
  • Work with a team on accomplishing task.
  • Operation of company vehicle, forklift and/or pallet jack. Forklift physical will be required.
  • Maintain data in Microsoft applications.
  • Physical material handling will be required.
  • Follow GMP & SOP’S
  • SAP knowledge or training will be required.
  • Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, etc. as required to improve job skills and product- related procedures.


Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement: 

  • High School diploma/GED with minimum 6 years of relevant work experience OR an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Must have the ability to read, write and understand information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels
  • Must have a strong attention to detail
  • Must be proficient with PC operation and learn SAP.
  • Must be able to work flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the manufacturing process. This includes overtime, holidays and weekends. Days and hours are subject to change based on the needs of the business.
  • 6 years relevant work experience
