The Mass Spectrometry team within Analytical Research & Development at our research division is seeking applicants for a Principal Scientist position. The successful applicant would provide technical project leadership as a group leader and solve complex problems to drive the analytical development and registration of new therapies.  We are looking for self-motivated scientists with proven leadership experience, a track record of innovation, and expertise in proteomics and protein characterization by LC-MS. As a Principal Scientist, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists from Analytical Research & Development, Bioprocess Development, and Biologics Discovery to design, plan and implement strategies to use MS-based technologies to advance the development of biotherapeutics.  Preferred skills include: 

  • Setting and influencing program strategy across a portfolio of projects 
  • Recognized as an innovator within the field of mass spectrometry
  • Conversant in analytical method development & control strategies for regulatory filing and method validation 
  • Substantial experience in biological mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography, and  in structure elucidation of recombinant proteins by mass spectrometry
  • Expertise in proteomics by LC-MS
  • Ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize the information to optimize and advance MS-based analytical methods
  • Experience in supervising people and leading teams strategically
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary working environment

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to identify patterns, trends & connections across data to reveal new dimensions to problems/solutions and articulate those ideas. He/She should be comfortable working within a cross functional team environment and should possess excellent communication skills. They should have an understanding of external scientific environment & current state of art and ability to translate that to scientific innovation in support of our organization's pipeline. Understanding of internal & external regulatory landscape & impact on scientific decision making is also important. 


Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:  Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or related discipline


Required Experience and Skills:   

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry within chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, strong leadership/interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions are essential.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Understanding of internal and external regulatory landscape and impact on scientific decision making
