Summary

The candidate will work within the Defensive Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Engineering Division, as a Senior Systems Engineer or Project Engineer to support a variety of efforts such as radar warning, electro-optics, missile warning, and electronic countermeasure systems. The candidate will manage multiple projects within the TACAIR EW Integrated Product Team (IPT)/F-35 and will be articulating approaches to solve technical and programmatic issues with EW systems at NAVAIR Weapons Division, Point Mugu.

The major responsibilities include the identification of system requirements, design, and development for EW systems along with the evaluation and analysis of system performance for USN strike aircraft by ensuring that proposed implementation of system design align with fleet required critical capabilities. The candidate will directly interface with the customer and fleet representative(s) when hosting project meetings, technical meetings and milestone reviews. The candidate will collaborate with other USN and FMS Project Leads, Strike Integration Lead, Strike Technical Lead, Engineers, and Technicians to plan and execute related suite tasking; as well as, with prime contractors in their software development efforts. This person will serve as an intermediary between IPT members and the operational user perspective to EW systems, software development feedback, engineering efforts, and acquisition life cycle milestones and events.

The candidate receives technical direction from, and is accountable to the EW Strike Block Lead/F-35 Lead for cost, schedule, development and technical performance for all EW Suite products and services assigned to the IPT for Strike aircraft system configurations across the full systems lifecycle. Candidate is responsible for providing quality products that meet Fleet needs in a timely and effective manner; developing and maintaining a technical and business strategy per direction of EW Lead while ensuring that an EW system engineering approach is applied across all phases of the project; and continually improving the organization’s ability to handle more challenging tasks.

The candidate will be responsible for leading and managing complex technical projects that encompass systems evaluation; development, integration and deployment of quality products that are produced to meet the customer requirement in timely and effective manner. This person will generate ROM estimate, monitor, execute and update the associated Project Plans to ensure team members; processes, facilities, and equipment are fully available to meet the program schedule, requirements and performance goals. The candidate will also interface with PMAs for project status with direction of Block Lead. This covers areas of new product development and product sustainment. Flexibility, adaptability, teaming skills, leadership skills and verbal/written communication skills are required. Must have a clearance.

Experience/Education Required  

BS or MS degree in system engineering or other related engineering field.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Minimum of 6-8 years including:
• Familiarity of EW Systems, specifically ALR-67, ALQ-165, and ALQ-214 is highly desired.
• Demonstrate analytical and software technical background corresponding to systems engineering and program management.
• Must have experience creating and executing budgets using MS Project and Office applications.
• Must have effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate experience in leading and managing complex technical projects that encompass systems evaluation, development, integration and deployment.
• Demonstrate technical leadership within a cross functional project team
