General Responsibilities: As an Industrial Hygiene Project Manager, this individual will be responsible for contributing to the success of Terracon’s services related to asbestos, lead-based paint, mold and other related Industrial Hygiene services. Success will be defined by high employee engagement within their group, high client satisfaction, steady growth in revenues, and profitability. This individual will be expected to work within a team environment and will work with the Environmental Department Manager and field technician staff in managing and executing projects While we expect the responsibilities of this position to grow and develop over time, the basic responsibilities are as follows:
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrate safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
Communicate with the field coordinator in the execution of field services.
Direct the performance of standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required.
Assist with annual asbestos inspector and asbestos contractor/supervisor refresher training.
Ensure that field personnel keep licenses/certifications up-to-date and that current copies are on file.
Manage the AIHA® Laboratory Accreditation Programs, LLC Proficiency in Analytical Testing (PAT) Program for analysis of asbestos air samples.
Communicate with the field coordinator in managing field equipment and consumable supplies; e.g., ensure that field staff have complete sampling kits and that sampling equipment is in good condition; maintain supplies of sampling and monitoring consumables (sample bags, mold cassettes, asbestos cassettes, etc.); ensure that field staff know how to calibrate and use monitoring equipment; calibrate rotameters against primary standard on a regular basis; manage factory calibration for primary standard, microscopes, etc.
Direct sampling of suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA and LDEQ guidelines.
Direct performance of lead risk assessments in accordance with HUD and OSHA.
Direct performance of oversight and air monitoring during asbestos, lead, and mold abatement projects.
Coordinate with Approved Project Reviewer (APR) to ensure appropriate oversight is in place; allow sufficient time for reviews of all critical junctures.
Coordinate with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections.
Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with Company risk policies.
Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APR on projects at their onset.
Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices of the Company including Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology and a minimum of 3-5 years' related experience. Or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years' related experience.
