Job Description

Supervise facility engineering team, as well as dotted-line reporting during project execution of various functions.

Concept design and detailed planning of turn-key facility plants (proposals, submitting and verification of quotations, time scheduling, monitoring of construction progress, hand-over of plant)

Definition of specifications (design of building services and supply/disposal systems):

Ventilation and air conditioning systems (special ventilation systems, exhaust systems)

Cryogenic installations (standard cooling, ultra-low cooling, cooling water production)

Air compressor systems (production and distribution)

Preparation, distribution, disposal of water, deposition/separation equipment

Fire-fighting installations (various systems, e.g. high pressure water mist systems, sprinklers, foam)

Heating systems

Storage and distribution of liquid and gaseous fuels

Handling of HOAI and/or HOA

Basic knowledge of structural engineering (structural steelwork engineering, structural engineering calculations, etc.)

Basic knowledge of electrical engineering/ measurement and control engineering

Basic knowledge of building power, transformers, and power distribution

Basic knowledge of fire and gas detection systems

Ability to take proven AVL designs from other countries, and adapt to local market and norms.


Business Development Responsibilities

Responsible to grow profitable business in AVL facility engineering, working closely with global facilities teams and resources

Development of strategic approach that minimizes AVL TSI risk in this new business area

Development of partner network for the construction and realization of these facilities

Work closely with customers to develop facility plans that focus on the customer requirements, long term goals, workflow, and overall efficiency


Bachelor’s degree (mechanical engineering and/or supply engineering desirable)

Experience managing an engineering team

Minimum 3 years of experience in plant engineering

Understanding of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and related details

Engine / powertrain / vehicle knowledge is a plus

Strategic thinking, business development, communication and teamwork skills

Good spoken and written command of English

Availability to travel, including internationally
