Job Description

Job Summary / General Purpose:

The Data Systems Manager is dedicated to systems and process efficiency to improve the Sprague experience. This position will work with the Data Systems Manager and other internal contacts to improve computer systems, procedures, and design solutions to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively. In addition, this position will assist with documentation of systems, up-to-date procedures, and workflows.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

  • In order to better understand our current processes, the Data Systems Intern will job shadow among the Customer Service team and with Data Systems Manager to help identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • To attain better system visibility and a broad understanding of the complexity of our data integrations and flow, the person in this role will create external representation of our data relationships within our systems, including but not limited to:
    • Spreadsheets (Excel) showing data field names and API names for each system, and the relationship among systems. Note systems of record.
    • Flow charts (Visio) showing data field relationships and workflows for Customer One Customer Creation, Carrier Relations from Salesforce to G3 and to Top Tech, and PIN/Lifting Number Relations among Business Associates in Solarc to Guardian to Salesforce.
  • As we work to meet business needs, and changing industry regulations, product changes and system changes are required. Project work will be assigned to assist in meeting these needs, including but not limited to running reports from backend systems and manipulating the data in Excel.
  • Attend meetings for greater understanding of our business challenges and opportunities.
  • Complete Salesforce training modules for greater understanding of the system’s capabilities.
  • Other assignments as opportunities arise.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • College enrollment in a related degree program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with designing reports and visuals
  • Interest in project management and database administration preferred.
  • Ability to work well individually and with others, organize workload, perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and conduct research as needed; see projects through to fruition.
  • Exercise sound judgment when directing inquiries to others.  Follow up as needed to ensure resolution.
  • Basic knowledge of ergonomic principles.
