Responsibilities

The Interactive Learning Designer (ILD) will collaborate with Learning Designers, Learning Technologists and Partners to design interactive learning solutions to pedagogical challenges. The ILD will own these solutions from conception through delivery. The ILD will apply appropriate learning theory and online development best practices to deliver innovative, high-quality student experiences.

Additional responsibilities
  • Lead the concepting and creation of innovative, high-quality interactive learning experiences
  • Incorporate insights from learning theory, user experience research, and user testing to inform design of interactive learning activities.
  • Create mock-ups, storyboards, and/or prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas to stakeholders
  • Review media strategies and concepts for scope and appropriateness against the contexts of budget, precedent and internal best practices
  • Supervise freelance services related to production of interactive elements. Provide quality control in terms of the learning design and user experience of interactive elements
  • Lead design sessions with Faculty, Instructional Designers, and/or Media Team Specialists to identify opportunities for and collaboratively design interactive learning experiences. Report project status on all assigned projects to Media Strategy Manager.
  • Integrate LMS tools and leading-edge technologies to promote effective teaching strategies and to improve student learning experiences
  • Maintain documentation of Media Team best practices for Wiley's Learner Experience and Learning Technology groups.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Learning Design, Cognitive Science, Media Production, Education, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with online education, with an emphasis on learning design and interactive learning objects. Strong background in learning theory and online instruction
  • Experience working collaboratively with SMEs and team members on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Experience developing project plans for interactive development
  • Editing and copy-editing skills and experience with QA in an online environment
  • Exceptional client services and relationship-building ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to apply online pedagogy and learning theories/instructional design models to create innovative learning experiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Competency with LMS systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, D2L, eCollege, or Moodle; Facility with synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
