The Sales Director is responsible for all new commercial and military helicopter sales, market expansion and revenue development. Plans, directs, and coordinates sales of organization's entire products and services by performing the following duties personally or through authorized Sales Agents or subordinate supervisors. This position is based in Mesa, Arizona.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes strategic marketing goals to meet revenue and profitability targets, achieve corporate objectives, and increase market share and profitability of MD products and services worldwide.
Primary point of contact for customers, sales leads, operators, international distributors and representatives.
Develop comprehensive marketing plans and programs for the commercial and military markets, consistent with industry demands and long-term profitability. Facilitate the development of market specific sales materials for representatives and distributors.
Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors of commercial and military markets to capitalize on emerging opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.
Negotiate and execute Sales Representative and Distributor Agreements.
Develop and manage sales operating budget.
Evaluate long-term potential of representation in new markets, generate bid and proposal strategies, produce and present proposals.
Conduct product demonstrations and supervise trade show activities in domestic and international locations where approved, as part of a comprehensive marketing plan and budget.
Review and approve advertising and promotion activities as part of global marketing budget and strategy.
Clarify goals with the VP of Sales to develop direction and market strategies for new business capture.
Provide market analysis to executive team for new business development.
Provide weekly and quarterly reports to VP of Sales for sales efforts and opportunities.
Assist local teams with customer visits to MD Helicopters' facilities.
Establish and maintain relationships with strategic partners.
Meet with key representatives and distributors to assist with maintaining relationships, negotiate and close sales.
Coordinate between sales department and other sales related units.
Other duties may be assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with helicopter market sales process is required.
Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) is preferred.
Previous experience with helicopter or aircraft OEM sales is preferred.
Demonstrate in-depth sales and marketing techniques, and financial principles required.
Strong interpersonal skills - creative thinker with exemplary written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate orally or in written form with both co-management and internal/external customers and regulatory representatives is required.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues is required.
Ability to multi task and prioritize workload within department.
Ability to successfully coordinate efforts of staff outside of individual's span of authority.
Advanced Excel and Access database system and PowerPoint experience required.
Up to seventy-five (75%) travel required with significant customer interface.
The ability to understand and follow instructions, and concentration is required.
The ability to get along with others and be part of a team.
Access to Export Control Information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (business, marketing, aviation operations or similar discipline is preferred); and at least 7 years work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
