Arizona Public Service has an opportunity for a System Operations Senior Instructor who will be responsible to deliver training and instruct employees in electrical grid operations and prepare them for Energy Control Center (ECC) Operator qualification and job duties. The Senior Instructor will coordinate and implement all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process for the electrical grid operations training programs including the Initial, OJT and Continuing training programs. The Senior Instructor will ensure select courses meet the guidelines to provide Provides Credit Equivalent Hours (CEHs) which are approved by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Continuing Education Program. This position will support both the real-time operations in the ECC as well as the associated Operations Support personnel.

Develops and maintains training programs for APS Power Operations that are in compliance with regional and national standards.
Enhance the knowledge and skills of personnel in job classifications supported by the organization. Lead or participate in the performance of need, job, and task analysis for job classifications supported by the organization.
Design and develop initial training and continuing education for job classifications supported by the organization, using a variety of instructional media.
Deliver training in the classroom, on-the-job, and simulator settings, consistent with NERC requirements Conduct evaluations of student performance, training materials, and training effectiveness, including upkeep of training databases.
Meet requirements to maintain APS status as a NERC Approved Provider of continuing education.
Oversee training and support vendors as necessary to ensure that they meet APS training requirements.
Work with operations leaders to define/address personnel knowledge and skill gaps.
Maximize training resource utilization through technology, integration, and resource sharing.
Promote Training/Operations partnership by developing professional rapport with all customers.
Maintain instructional/technical proficiency and NERC certification by attending relevant continuing education.

Preferred candidate would hold a current NERC certification as either a reliability coordinator (RC) or Balance and Interchange / Transmission Operator (BITO)
