Air General, a national cargo company is seeking a DG/AVI Specialist in our Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) location. Responsibilities will include assisting the staff in the processing of all live animal (AVI) and dangerous goods (DG) paperwork. Spot-check transferring DG documentation, air waybills, checklists, NOTOC reports and statistics for completeness and correctness. Complete thorough and accurate DG acceptance of all Dangerous Goods shipments accepted to be flown on American Airlines and Lufthansa Airlines. Ensure that all DG related ramp entries and NOTOC entries have been entered correctly. Take special measures to ensure proper handling of live animal shipments, and special loads. Make sure pre-advice is sent and acceptance is confirmed from downline and/or destination station before loading. Ensure that all AVI shipments have proper kennels; are secured properly and are labeled properly  Conduct crosschecks of the previous shifts’ acceptance documentation and entries.  Maintain a shared spreadsheet that tracks all DG shipments Ensure documentation travels with flight on which cargo is loaded. Make sure staff correct any documentation shortages or communicate with downline/destination station to correct problems. Oversee the dispatch of all required post flight messages and filing of all flight-related documents. Prepare statistics and reports, as required by customer and managers, and distribute to all relevant parties. Maintain logs, files, and statistics as required. Provide details about shipments or handling incidents, which may result in future claims. Keep track of kennel stock, DG label stock, inventory reports, and send appropriate messages as required. Prepare documentation for tracing action, perform follow-up, and keep customer informed of progress. Prepare daily reports as regards to Human Remains originating, transferring and destined for CLT.  Ensure all customer issues are resolved promptly. Liaise closely with Top Account Coordinators. Conduct spot checks on all DG related performance. Ensure DRP entries are correct. Provide customers with information concerning the status of their shipments. Review and handle all messages requiring immediate responses or special handling. Liaise with manager as required.  Survey all work and office areas for neat, clean, and orderly conditions, including all back offices. Areas must be free of debris and any other work safety hazards. Challenge unauthorized persons entering non-public areas and report the incident to a manager. Adhere to all FAA, Airport, American Airlines and Air General safety and security procedures, and immediately report any discrepancies to a manager. Work cooperatively with all fellow employees and all American Airlines Cargo Sales staff to service our customers, including shippers, consignees, drivers, freight forwarders and brokers. Present a professional appearance; acknowledge a waiting customer’s presence; be helpful and courteous; be friendly. Use proper telephone etiquette; answer phones within 4 rings. Perform any other duties as directed by the managers. Requirements: Must pass security background check and drug testing. Must be able to type 35 wpm. (A typing test may be administered to determine proficiency) Must have valid North Carolina driver license. Must be able to obtain valid airport I.D. badge.
