Hello. I own an organic walnut, vegetables and wine grapes ranch/farm and currently have 2,100 walnut trees, organic vegetable garden, 20 acres of grapes and 4 "pet" cows. I want to expand the pupose of my ranch to include more cows (to be raised for consumption) and, possibly, to add other livestock such as sheep and pigs for the market. I also want to expand into growing more organic vegetables to supply my two restaurants.
For the Ranch Manager and family, I am able to provide an onsite manufactured home that is neat and tidy and completely renovated inside and out.
(3 bedrooms and two bathrooms). The ranch/farm is currently 1,000 acres
(we may add 600 acres more of grazing land). On the 1,000 acres only 80 acres are in walnuts and 20 acres in grapes- the rest is partly grazing land and forest. All of the property is situated in beautiful Lake County, CA.
Note: Lake County has the rating of the number#1 cleanest air, out of all the 58 California Counties, and is filled with abundant wildlife and a beautiful Lake for boating, fishing and watersports.
As the son of a WW2 Marine, whose father was wounded on Guadacanal, I am particularly interested in hiring an Experienced Ranch Manager who is a U.S. armed services veteran and who has honorably served our country. I believe such a candidate deserves to be interviewed, first, for this job (or any job).
I need someone who has a seriously strong background in livestock management and is capable of operating standard ranch equipment (eg. tractor, backhoe etc.) The ranch employs 4 (or more as needed) other "hands" who help to maintain the equipment, trees and vineyards; the Ranch Manager must be "hands on" and possess the knowledge and capability of supervising other employees and the entire ranch/farm operation.
Skills Needed : knowledge of or ability to learn- fence installation, repair, and relocation of corrals; operation and maintenance of ranch/farm equipment and tools; knowledge of planting crops (hay and vegetables) and livestock raising techniques; carpentry and/or plumbing skills, internet skills. Ability to ride a horse: a plus and a fun way to traverse the ranch.
Must be: Non-smoker, have healthy personal habits, be neat, clean and organized.
I can be contacted at pioneerhorseman@gmail.com for further information.
Thank you! Bill Gilbert
