Merakey is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join autism and emotional support specialty school in Ellsworth, PA.
This position requires just 1 hour per week but is key to successfully providing an exceptional experience for our students. If you are a Licensed Physical Therapist with the flexibility to contribute a few hours a month to our amazing students, we would love to hear from you!

By blending behavioral expertise utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and education, Merakey schools partner with families, school districts and community organizations to provide a quality educational environment. The goal is to teach students the skills necessary for success in the general education setting and to transition them, as appropriate, back to a less restrictive environment within their home school districts, competitive employment and/or independent living. As a member of our team, the Physical Therapist will provide services to restore, maintain, and promote fitness and health, function and mobility as well as to relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities for children grades K-12 who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other behavioral/emotional need(s). You will work with IEP team members, clinicians, families, and program staff; using the multidisciplinary evaluation to create, develop, and implement individual and/or group therapy for each child as specified in the child's IEP.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Provide services to restore, improve, enhance function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities for children diagnosed with autism or other behavioral/emotional need(s).
Complete and maintain necessary records and documentation.
Participate in IEP meetings to review progress on IEP goals.
Confer with classroom teachers to provide information / instruction on effective techniques to use with each individual.
Develop and write IEP goals relevant to each individual's realistic physical rehabilitative needs.
Select and implement physical activities that will help individuals learn work and life management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.
Conduct group activities as deemed necessary and clinically appropriate.
Attend staff meetings as required and directed.
Provide any tests or evaluations to help determine goals and need areas.
Complete and disseminate report cards, monthly progress reports, and documentation of billable hours to appropriate person as set forth by management.
Confer with parents / caregivers on a regular basis (both verbal and written) regarding progress of each individual child and to instruct them on strategies that are effective.
Other duties as assigned to meet programmatic needs.
