What is the position where you can add value? We are actively recruiting for a Quality Technician for our City of Industry, CA plant location within our Tekni-Plex Medical Division of Tekni-Plex. SUMMARY Responsible for the inspection, assessment, verification/testing, and documentation of process and product quality on all goods, incoming goods, in-process used in the manufacture of our product and finished goods to the customer and acceptability thereof. Included in these duties are instrument care, calibration and documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Follow standard methods and techniques, inspects and test product to ensure it meets customer and product specification, and alert production when standards are not met. Monitor manufacturing processes to assure process capability. Must have working knowledge of basic inspection tools; measuring tape/scale, calipers, micrometers, durometer and RAM optical. Monitor product tracking methods with respect to production (i.e. order number, coil number, etc.). Puts questionable product on hold, initiates re-work if necessary, and inspects non-conforming product returns. May assist in training other production employees in quality assurance procedures and standards. Knowledgeable of proper packaging specifications and acceptable quality for any given product. Continual monitoring of product quality being manufactured on the production floor. Follows and participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment. Participates in the GMP program. Ensures quality products and processes are maintained by: understanding and supporting both quality policies and the quality system, performing work at a level that ensures quality work meets or exceeds internal and external customer satisfaction, identifying and correcting, if possible, any quality issues and participating in system or quality based training provided by the Company or recommended by the Company. Perform all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ previous quality assurance experience or a combination of education and experience. Ability to input and retrieve information from computer software. Basic understanding of blue print reading, process equipment and inspection instruments. Strong attention to details. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, correspondence and e-mail. Ability to write technical correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients and other employees within the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hands and fingers to grip, feel, peel or control; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Eye protection is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet floors, sharp blades, hot equipment and electrical static. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and hearing protection is not required.
