balchem Position Summary: Responsible for safety and regulatory management, process improvements and capital project management. Essential Responsibilities: Safety and Regulatory Compliance Develops innovative employee training content Administers employee training Ensures that compliance programs and procedures meet the regulatory requirements and additional requirements related to our participation in OSHAs VPP. Administers and facilitates employee participation safety programs including internal audits, safety committee meetings, employee safety observations, and employee incentive programs. Manages all regulatory reporting Facilitates all regulatory audits Responsible for compliance with the 14 elements of 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management including management of change, process hazard analysis, mechanical integrity, and contractor management. Administers and manages industrial hygiene monitoring of employees Manages hazardous waste program Recommends, develops and manages capital projects with special emphasis on projects that improve site safety and lean manufacturing. Participates as an active member of a 4-person management team that drives plant improvements in safety, quality, lean manufacturing, training etc. Develops and assists in developing site procedures and visual work instructions especially those that create process or safety improvement. Maintains all records for procedures and training. Education/Experience/Skills: B.S. Degree, preferably in engineering or a physical science. 5-7 years experience at a specialty chemical plant under an OSHA PSM program is preferred, as well as knowledge of VPP. Experience and / or certification to conduct employee safety training as required by OSHA, EPA, and DOT is also desirable. Must be able to demonstrate skills in employee training, process and project engineering. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Work requires physical ability to train, inspect, and assist in maintenance-type activities.
