A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant are trained to assess patient needs, order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, diagnose illness and disease, prescribe medication and formulate treatment plans. This is a Monday to Friday position from 0730 to 1630 with unpaid 60-minute daily break. Reports to : Vighter Project Manager Principle Accountabilities: The contract providers shall perform all procedures within the scope of a family practice specialty. The duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following: A professional knowledge consistent with the current state of the art of medicine and the ability to transform that knowledge into proper patient care. Perform the full range of family medicine services for all age groups to include the ability and experience to adequately diagnose and treat urgent acute diseases and injuries. Obtain medical history of acute and chronic illnesses; perform physical examinations and determine the need for and order appropriate laboratory and radiology tests; interpret results and make a critical evaluation to determine diagnosis and prognosis; initiate treatment and therapy and provide follow- up as needed; provide complete and appropriate instructions regarding medications, limitations and follow-up plans. Adhere to production goal of 21 encounters per day to include closure of encounters. Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings. Prescribes treatment, including procedures as deemed necessary. Assigned a full range of cases including pediatric, adult, or geriatric patients. May be required to serve as the primary care manager for the medical management of a panel of patients. Become familiar with the MTF formulary and follow the procedures of the MTF when prescribing drugs. Maintains, stores, safeguards, inputs, fills or distributes drugs and medicines Performs lifesaving emergency procedures in order to stabilize patients; provides immediate definitive medical care to reduce emergency situation and enable the patient to continue care as an outpatient with follow-up care as required. Makes appropriate referrals to Emergency Medicine physicians and specialty physicians Follow DoD, U.S. Army and MTF regulations and policies, when arranging for a referral or consult. Refer stable patients to specialty clinics at the MTF or on the civilian network as required. Provide and document medical advice or telephone consults to patients by telephone as appropriate and in accordance with MTF protocol. Within the policies and regulations of the hospital, coordinates patient access to medical care of appropriate referrals to other health care providers. Shall remain in the clinic or be immediately available to the clinic throughout each tour of duty. Provider will notify clinic leadership before the close of business if hands on patient care will run past the end of the day. All effort by clinic leadership must be made to provide a credentialed provider to take over care so the contract provider can depart on time. Attend medical staff meetings, committee meetings, training and participate in Performance Improvement and other committee activities as directed by the MTF Commander, the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services or the Department Chief. Qualifications for Physician Assistants: Degree: Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Certification: Assistants (NCCPA). Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant. Must be able to pass a government background clearance (SF-85) Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners: Degree: Master's degree in nursing. Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Certification: Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.
